Liquid Diet

Liquid diet is an effective means to reduce weight. Most of the people invest in diet and exercise programs for effective weight loss. The latest liquid diets have been positively modified, thus rising in popularity since their fall out during the late 1970’s.

The main purpose of liquid diet is weight loss. Liquid diets are also widely used to improve health conditions. For losing one pound of weight, you need to reduce 3,500 calories. For this reason most of Liquid diets consist of 400 to 800 calories of intake. It consists of high protein shake instead of eating meals.

Working of Liquid Diet

It is basically a diet consisting of the juicy fruits along with green vegetables salads. This highly reduces the junk food intake and the liquid diet supplies only the bare indispensables for the body only.

As the liquid diet lacks of excess calories, the body will start burning the already digested fat in your body.

The basic concept behind the liquid diet is that it reduces the energy in our body, which will result in rapid weight loss.

Liquid diet involves drinking of high protein shakes for two meals and for the last meal of the day having a rich nutritious solid meal. It helps to reduce blood lipids, blood pressure and blood sugar.

These diets may help you to lose weight in the short term but they can't teach you to eat right in the long term. Without such diet-modification, long-term weight loss is not possible.

Liquid Diet – Types:

There are two broad categories of liquid diets, Commercial Liquid Diet and Low Calorie Liquid Diet. In a commercial liquid diet, the dieter will have high protein shakes instead of one or two meals. The dieter can also have one or two solid low calorie meals.

Some liquid diet programs even offer pre-packed solid meals. These diets are purely commercial type of liquid diet. In a Low Calorie liquid diet, the dieter is provided with medically supervised liquid meal of 400 to 800 calories per day along with some solid meal.

Liquid Diet Recipe:

Breakfast

Whole milk 8 oz
Fruit juice 1 cup
Hot tea with sugar & lemon
Hot cereal 1/2-cup
Eggnog 8 oz

Lunch & Dinner

Juice 1 cup
Strained creamed soup 3/4 cup
Pudding or custard 1/2 cup
Ice cream 1/2 cup
Hot tea with sugar & lemon
Whole milk 8 oz
Salt/pepper

When you are following liquid diet you can have all vegetable juices, cooked refined cereals; farina, grits, milk, milkshakes, fruit ice, honey, syrups, all beverages broth, bouillon, eggnog, ice cream, custard, pudding, oatmeal, cream of rice, cream of wheat, butter, margarine, cream, sherbet, sugar, hard candy, plain gelatin, and strained creamed soups.

When you are on liquid diet you should avoid all kinds of breads, all meat or meat substitutes, all raw or cooked vegetables, all types of cheeses and all fresh, frozen, or canned fruit.
